US military semiautomatic rifle. Arsenal reworked. Features a parkerized finish, wood stock & hand guards, 24" barrel, adjustable sights with protected front blade & protected rear peep, fixed magazine for en-bloc clip, manual safety. Serial number dates the receiver to October 1943, SA marked bolt, barrel marked "S-A 11-45", SA marked trigger housing, SA marked Op rod and SA marked safety. receiver electropenciled RRAD 6-65, indicates that the rifle was overhauled at the Red River Army Depot in Texas during June 1965. Bore is excellent/bright strong rifling. Stock has the "P" in circle in the bottom of grip, crossed cannons ordnance cartouche on left stock above the trigger along with "S.A. J.L.G." J.L.G., James L. Guion, the commanding officer of Springfield Armory from July 1950 to May 1953. Consigner states he used this rifle as an officer on the Army Match team in the 1960's. Parkerized finish is about 92% with edge wear, some rubs on the barrel. Wood is very good, color match among the stock and handguards and the bore is very good/bright.
